In the series I have explored the balance and tension between contrast and harmony which all successful compositions possess.
The contrasting elements include: line against plane, quiet marks against stronger gestural ones, and juxtapositions of glazed areas against impastoed textures. Harmony is created through a limited palette of complimentary colours.
These small paintings have, I hope, jewel like intensity. The titles were given after contemplating the completed images.
