This is a painting of three ice-creams (mint, vanilla and raspberry) served in Bepe's, an Italian restaurant frequented by a friend whose husband commissioned the picture as a surprise gift for his wife.
The checkered fragmentation of the picture is not only a reflection of the tablecloths in the restaurant but also refers to the beautifully coloured patchwork quilts made by the lady in whose breakfast room the picture now hangs.
This painting is 80cm x 60cm and is acrylic on canvas.
